A person who jumped from the Chicago Skyway into the Calumet River following a crash on the bridge Monday afternoon has been found.
About 3 p.m., emergency crews responded to the Skyway near 97th Street after getting reports that a person had jumped into the river following a traffic crash on the toll bridge the connects the city to northwest Indiana, according to the Chicago Police and Fire departments.
The police marine unit and fire department divers responded to the river to search for the person who jumped, authorities said.
Firefighters announced about 5 p.m. that a person had been recovered from the river, but did not provide additional information.
All lanes of the Skyway headed into Chicago were initially blocked by the crash, but at least some lanes had reopened ahead of the Monday night rushhour, according to social media posts.
Additional information was not immediately available.
