Sketch Released of Attempted Wicker Park Rape Suspect

The man targets women walking alone and demands money from them, Chicago Police said

A sketch was released Monday of the man police said has tried to sexually assault several women in the Humboldt Park and Wicker Park neighborhoods.

Police said the man targets women walking alone and demands money from them before trying to assault them. The first incident occurred July 11 in the 1700 block of North Humboldt Boulevard.

A 29-year-old woman was walking home around 1:30 a.m. when a man approached her with a knife. He then forced her into the entryway of her building and tried to sexually assault her.

About 20 minutes later a woman found a man inside her kitchen on the 1900 block of North Drake Avenue. The suspect also had a knife and tried to sexually assault her.

In both cases the man ran off when the women screamed for help.

The offender is described as a black male between 20 and 28 years old standing about 6-feet tall and weighing 170-180 pounds. Victims told police the man has dreadlocks and possibly a scar or tattoo below his right eye.
