Six Flags Announces New Record-Breaking Roller Coaster

A brand new, record-breaking attraction is coming to Six Flags Great America.

The amusement park announced Thursday that it would be adding the Maxx Force roller coaster in 2019, saying the ride will break three records.

With an air-powered launching system to propel riders from 0 to 78 miles per hour in under two seconds, the Maxx Force will be the fastest launch coaster in North America, Six Flags said in a statement.

And at 175 feet above the ground, it will also feature the highest double inversion in the world - as well as the fastest inversion, with riders zooming through a corked roll at 60 miles per hour, according to the park.

Maxx Force will feature a total of five inversions, Six Flags said, with riders in trains modeled after Formula One racing cars.

It will be the Gurnee park's 17th roller coaster, according to Six Flags, and will debut summer 2019 in the Hometown Square area.
