Two teens were seriously injured in a shooting outside of a mall in south suburban Calumet City on Thursday, police said.
According to authorities, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman were shot outside the River Oaks Center at approximately 6 p.m. Both were taken to area hospitals in serious condition.
Police say that their preliminary investigation indicates the incident was not random, and that there is no ongoing safety threat to the public.
Officials said the mall will reopen on Friday, and additional patrols will be deployed to the area.
