Three people were wounded in a drive-by shooting on Chicago's Southwest Side early Monday, according to police, who said one of the men shot was an unintended target, sleeping in his home nearby when gunfire erupted.
The shooting took place at around 2:39 a.m. in the 2400 block of South Trumbull Avenue in the city's Little Village neighborhood, officials said.
In what appeared to be a gang-related incident, three suspects in a blue car opened fire on two men standing on the corner outside, according to police.
A 30-year-old man was shot twice in the left leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center in serious condition, officials said, while a 25-year-old man was shot in the chest and sustained a graze wound to the left bicep. He was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition, according to police.
Authorities said a stray bullet from that shooting pierced through the door of a nearby apartment building and struck a man who was sleeping in his bed. The victim, who a neighbor identified as 49-year-old Jose Hernandez, suffered a graze wound to the forehead and hand and was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition, according to police.
A woman who lives in the same building said a neighbor knocked on her door and asked her to call an ambulance because his cousin had been shot, an incident that she said has traumatized her family after waking up to gunshots too close to home.
"I want to move out of here," Magali Acuna said. "I'm moving out of here, I'm definitely moving. The reason we're staying here is because the rent is cheap but I guess I'll have to work harder."

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, according to police, who continue to investigate.
