Man Dead After Logan Square Drive-By Shooting

Man was in an SUV parked on the 2000 block of West Fullerton Avenue when shots were fired from a passing pickup truck, police said

A man died Friday morning after being shot in a drive-by shooting in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood, officials said.

A 31-year-old man, who a police source later said had documented gang ties, was sitting in an SUV parked in the 2000 block of West Fullerton at about 11:40 p.m. Thursday when a gray pickup truck pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said.

The man was shot in the left side of the head and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

A spokesperson with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office could not immediately confirm the death.

A man standing outside a home three houses down from the scene said he was watching T.V. when he heard four gunshots. He walked over to the window and saw people running around, he said. Police arrived a couple minutes later.
