She Ain't Heavy, She's My Sister

Jessica Cowin, 25, of Northbrook, needs a kidney transplant.

That's not extraordinary, except that she got a new heart 10 years ago, the Sun-Times reports. 

Jessica's sister, Amy, has managed her medical care for years. That's also not so extraordinary, except the tenacious mother hen is only 22.

"Under hospital privacy policies, you can only have one other contact. For Jessica, it's me," Amy said.

The Sun-Times tells the story of the two sisters who are making their way through enormous challenges together; specifically because they're together.
