Shania Twain to Judge Chicago American Idol

The show's been using a series of guest judges in Abdul’s absence

Shania Twain will help destroy the hopes and dreams of countless Chicago performers when she fills in as a guest judge for the Chicago auditions of American Idol at the end of the month, according to the Sun-Times reports.

Idol tryouts were held in late June, but the show will swing back through to reassess its contestants on August 30-31 now that Paula Abdul has left the show. The reassessment is when contestants get TV time -- that’s when all the buffoons come out in force.

The show has been using a series of guest judges in Abdul’s absence. Last week Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, filled in around Boston and Denver and soul legend Mary J. Blige filled the bill in Atlanta.

No location has been set for the second round of auditions.
