McDonald's is shaking up its menu for a select few in September.
The Shamrock Shake is typically served in March to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. Now, fans in Philadelphia are able to order the minty-fresh beverage until Oct. 18 all thanks to the city’s football team.
The Oak Brook-based company is offering the shake in different locations throughout Philadelphia as part of the chain’s “Stomp, Scream and Shake” campaign in support of the Eagles.
According to The TODAY show, the Shamrock Shake is making an early appearance in Philly for two reasons; the shake, formerly called the St. Patrick’s Day Milkshake, was created in Philadelphia and the city is also the birthplace of the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
The shake is made with soft serve ice cream and is topped off with a dollop of whipped cream. Multiple McDonald's advertisements are calling the drink “The Eagles’ favorite shake” and others seem to share the same taste buds.
“SAY PHILLY AINT THE BEST CITY IN AMERICA THEN WHY WE GET SHAMROCK SHAKE TWICE A YEAR GO BIRDS,” said one excited Twitter user.
RMHC provides temporary housing for pediatric cancer patients and their families. The shake, which was invented in 1970, was originally sold to help raise money for families with sick children.

According to a 2018 RMHC report, the charity provided more than 2.5 million overnight stays which saved families over $930 million- which makes this treat sweeter than others.
