Severe Thunderstorm Watches, Warnings Cancelled

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for three Indiana counties, including Newton, Jasper, and Porter, and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Kankakee County in Illinois have both been cancelled.

The watch was originally supposed to run until 8 p.m., but the National Weather Service cancelled it after the threat of severe weather moved out of the area.

The watch and warnings were part of an outbreak of storms that has spawned several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings on Friday, including warnings for Cook and Will counties in Illinois and Lake, Porter, and La Porte counties in Indiana.

The storms could include hail and strong wind gusts of up to 55 MPH, according to a Special Weather Statement issued by the NWS.
