Stormy Weather Rolls Through Central Illinois

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning that was issued for Kankakee County has been allowed to expire.

The thunderstorms, which packed winds of up to 70 MPH and were travelling at 60 MPH, rolled through central Illinois and northwest Indiana, but the warning that came with the storms has been allowed to expire.

Kankakee County, as well as Jasper and Newton counties in Indiana, were included in the warning, which expired at 6:30 p.m.

A storm system moving toward the area generated strong-to-severe thunderstorms in Iowa, and has the potential for torrential rain, strong winds, and hail as it moves into eastern Illinois.
