Flash Flood Watches Issued With Rain in Forecast

After heavy rains hammered areas south of Chicago Saturday, another round of wet weather is expected in the overnight hours.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for large portions of Northern Illinois, including DeKalb, LaSalle, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, Cook, and Will counties.

The watch began at 7 p.m. Saturday night and will continue on into Sunday morning.

Forecasts are calling for multiple rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms, including over areas that were inundated with over an inch and a half of rain on Saturday afternoon.

NBC 5’s Lisa Chavarria tracks stroms with NBC 5’s Storm Chaser.

According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, areas of Cook County can expect rainfall totals of up to two to three inches Saturday night, and there is a possibility of localized flooding and flash floods with these storms.
