Severe Storms Eye Chicago Area This Week

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, because the Chicago area could see some severe storms Wednesday.

A band of showers and isolated storms will likely move into the area from west to east early Wednesday morning, but that rain is expected to end during the morning rush hour.

The day will remain partly to mostly cloudy, breezy and mild, growing more humid by the afternoon as another round of scattered showers and storms threatens to move in.

Should any storms develop in that second wave during the late afternoon and evening, a few could become strong to severe, with large hail and damaging winds possible.

The largest threat for severe weather remains south of Interstate 80.

Pleasant weather returns Thursday as highs sit in the upper-60s and low-70s with partly sunny skies.

But an unsettled pattern arrives Friday and continues through the weekend, bringing the chance for showers and thunderstorms each day.
