Severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday evening in north central Illinois with winds up to 45 mph.
Heavy rain was expected as a line of storms stretching from the Rockford area down to Sterling headed east toward Chicago. Occasional lighting is possible along with downpours capable of ponding on roads.
The storms are expected to continue overnight and up to 2 inches of rainfall could gather in some areas due to isolated storms.
The chance for storms continues into Friday morning with a dry weekend to follow.
