Several Injured, Man Apprehended After Multi-Car Crash on South Side

Police say the driver that allegedly caused the crash fled the scene, but was apprehended

Several people were hurt and a man is in custody after a multi-car crash in the city’s West Englewood neighborhood on Sunday evening.

According to Chicago police, a vehicle being driven by an unidentified man crashed into several other cars at the intersection of 63rd and Ashland just before 7 p.m. on Sunday night.

Police say that at least two people were taken to area hospitals as a result of the crash, but their exact condition is unknown at this time.

After the crash, the man fled the scene, but was later apprehended by authorities. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Charges are pending against the driver. Chicago police are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the crash.
