6 Injured After Car Crashes Into Grayslake Church

At the time of the crash, about 100 people were lined up at the church for a monthly food pantry distribution

Six people were injured after a car crashed into a church in north suburban Grayslake while about 100 were lined up for a monthly food pantry distribution Saturday morning.

At about 8:45 a.m. Saturday, a 72-year-old woman drove a 2002 Toyota Camry into Wildwood Presbyterian Church, located at 18630 W. Old Gages Lake Road, according to Lake County Sheriff's Detective Christopher Covelli.

One person was pinned between the car and a wall, according to fire officials. A total of five people, including the driver, were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, and one person was treated and released on the scene, according to Covelli and fire officials. None of the victims were children.

The crash caused "extensive damage" to the building, fire officials said.

The Lake County sheriff's office is investigating whether the crash was intentional.
