Service Suspended After Car Struck by Brown Line Train

One person was taken to the hospital after a car was struck by a CTA Brown Line train Thursday afternoon on the North Side, fire officials said.

The Loop-bound Brown Line train struck a car about 2:35 p.m. as it was approaching the Rockwell station at 4648 N. Rockwell St., according to CTA spokesman Jeff Tolman.

The car went around a gate and made contact with a train, fire officials said. One person was taken in good condition to Swedish Covenant Hospital.

Power was shut down and Brown Line service is temporarily suspended between Kimball and Southport due to the crash, the CTA reported. Shuttle buses were made available for customers.
