Police received multiple calls of a pedestrian running in the inbound lanes of the highway

The two right lanes of the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway remain blocked after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle, Illinois State Police say.

According to police, dispatchers received multiple calls of a pedestrian running across lanes of traffic on the inbound Ryan on Monday afternoon. A preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle driving northbound in the far right lane.

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle was also hurt and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The two right lanes of the Dan Ryan remain blocked from 95th Street to 83rd Street, and motorists are not being allowed to use the on-ramp at 83rd Street due to the collision.

Authorities remain on scene as police investigate the crash.

Authorities are also responding to a crash on the outbound Bishop Ford near 115th Street, as an overturned tanker truck is snarling traffic in the area. Traffic is being forced off the highway at 115th Street due to the crash, and all lanes are blocked.

Traffic from the outbound Dan Ryan is also being prevented from getting onto the Bishop Ford near 95th Street, according to police.
