Serial Robber Targets Hair Salons

Six salons in Chicago, suburbs, robbed in past month

Police are searching for an armed robber who appears to be targeting hair salons.

The same man is believed to have robbed six salons in Chicago and several suburbs over the past month, the most recent incident in broad daylight on Thursday at a Skokie Supercuts.

"He put a gun in my face and he asked for money," employee Nana Khosfaba said. "I was very terrified so I didn't ask him a lot of questions. He took the money and took off."

Police say the robber is targeting large chain hair salons.

"Obviously our fear is for the workers and owners of the salons," a Skokie police officer said. "He is armed with a handgun and obviously things can go awry."

Salons in Skokie, Lombard, Niles, Glen Ellyn Morton Grove and Chicago have all been clipped by the same robber, according to police. Surveillance cameras recorded a Jan. 3 heist in Skokie.
