The Lord & Taylor store at Oakbrook Center will close early next year, the second location to close in the Chicago-area, according to a report.
The upscale department store at Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie was the first and its closure is expected in April.
Recent retail store closures come after the company warned the state last November of a total of 1,364 planned layoffs, according to the Chicago Tribune.
On a larger scale, retailers across the nation are continuously faced with consumers’ shift to online shopping.
It is unclear what business will occupy the space in Oakbrook Center once the lease expires.
Other suburban Lord & Taylor stores can be found at Northbrook Court and Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.
