Scott Darling Brings Stanley Cup to Hometown of Lemont

The goaltender said it was his "lucky day" to bring the trophy home

Blackhawks goaltender Scott Darling brought the Stanley Cup home on Monday.

The Lemont native brought the trophy to the Lemont Park District for an hour and a half in the afternoon.

"We do a lot of great stuff, we go to Wrigley Field, meet Mumford & Sons, but today was my lucky day, sharing the Cup with my hometown, with all my friends and family," Darling said.

Residents of Lemont were equally excited to see the Cup and meet Darling, who is the first Chicago-area native to play for his hometown hockey team and win a Stanley Cup champion.

"Ten months ago he was on a smaller team, and now he's with the Blackhawks and is a Stanley Cup champion," Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves said.

The Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup for the third time in six years on June 15, defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0.

"I was a Hawks fan my whole life," Darling said. "To see it come full circle like this is incredible."
