Collision marks third school bus crash in a week

A school bus and Chicago squad car collided early Tuesday, leaving a a police officer and bus driver with minor injuries.

Police said the crash happened about 7:50 a.m. on the 4200 block of South King Drive in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Two of 11 children on the bus at the time of the crash were taken to the hospital but everyone reportedly made it to school safely, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The driver and officer were treated for minor injuries.

This is the third school bus crash in a week. On Saturday two paramedics were taken to the hospital after an ambulance crashed into a bus at Grand and Central Avenues near Hanson Park.

The paramedics were responding to a call at the time of the crash, according to Police News Affairs.

On Friday, a driver was killed and dozens of children were taken to hospitals after a Jeep collided with a school bus in Wadsworth.

All 35 people aboard the bus survived the crash that happened just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Kilbourn Road and Illinois Route 173, 45 miles north of Chicago, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran Jr. said.
