Schaumburg Police Search for Driver Who Struck Child on Bicycle

The driver allegedly escorted the child home, but didn't provide any contact information

Schaumburg police are searching for a driver who allegedly struck a child riding on a bicycle and then left without providing any identifying information.

On July 27 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a person driving a silver vehicle in the 1000 block of North Walnut Drive struck a child who was riding on a bicycle in a marked crosswalk, according to police.

The driver, and a passenger inside the vehicle, stopped to assist the child and escorted them home, but did not provide any information regarding vehicle insurance or ways to contact them.

The child suffered injuries, but those wounds were not considered to be life-threatening.

On Friday, Schaumburg police issued an alert with information on the incident and on the vehicle involved. The car was a Mercedes Benz ML350, silver in color and with possible damage to the front end of the vehicle on the driver’s side.
