A Chicago suburb has been named one of the best places to live in America, according to a new report from Money Magazine.
The report, which lists 100 spots that "offer a healthy economy, affordable homes, and a high quality of life," ranked northwest suburban Schaumburg as no. 9 on the list.
The city was listed for being an "economic and manufacturing powerhouse," holding several Fortune 500 company headquarters. It was also cited for housing the popular Woodfield Mall, one of the largest in the country, and the Legoland Discovery Center.

The top city on the list was Fishers, Indiana, followed by Allen, Texas; Monterey Park, California; Franklin, Tennessee; Olive Branch, Mississippi; Dickinson, North Dakota; Lone Tree, Colorado; and North Arlington, New Jersey.

The ranking looked at places with populations between 10,000 and 100,000, with less than double the national crime risk, more than 85 percent of its state's median household income and ethnic diversity. It then ranked the remaining 2,400 places based on economic health, cost of living, public education, crime, ease of living and amenities. Reporters also interviewed residents to find "intangible factors that aren't revealed by statistics."

No more than four places were featured per state and two per county.
According to the report, Schaumburg has a median home price of $246,500, a median household income of $73,824, a population of 77,557 and an average commute time of 28 minutes.
Other Illinois cities to make the list were Wheaton, which came in at no. 27, followed directly by Villa Park at no. 28 and Des Plaines, which ranked at no. 35.
