Police officers come face-to-face with violence everyday, but two Chicago officers didn't expect to encounter the dangers of saw-as-weapon when they responded to a report of a burglarly in progress on the South SIde Monday night.
Both officers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after trying to subdue the man, according to the Chicago Breaking News Center.
An employee at the New Halsted Motel said the incident began at about 5:45 p.m. when the man tried to break into the motel office.
"He was just a guy hollering something," Narcissa Epps is quoted in the report as saying, adding that he appeared to be deranged.
"He as more afraid than anything else," she said.
