Blackhawks Trade Ryan Hartman

The Chicago Blackhawks are in the odd position of being sellers at the NHL trade deadline, leading them to trade one of their young stars to a division rival.

The Blackhawks traded Ryan Hartman and a fifth round pick to the Nashville Predators, the team announced Monday. In exchange, the Blackhawks will receive the Predators' first round pick in 2018, prospect Victor Edjsell, and a fourth round pick in 2018.

Hartman has scored eight goals and registered 17 assists for the Blackhawks this season, and is in the final season of his entry level contract, paving the way for a potential salary bump this offseason.

That led the Blackhawks to explore trading the talented forward, who was their first round draft pick in 2013.

The NHL trade deadline is set for 2 p.m. CST Monday, and there is a chance the Blackhawks could make more moves. Artem Anisimov has reportedly been on the trade block, and Lance Bouma was reportedly placed on waivers by the team over the weekend.
