Rumors Fly Over Lollapalooza Headliners

Perry Farrell: dance music act may take mainstage

The annual parlor game over who will headline Lollapalooza is in full swing.

Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot tweeted Tuesday that an official announcement will come on April 26th, but until then, the guessing game continues.

Founder Perry Farrell told Relix magazine that he wants to expand the electronic-themed acts that typically play on the smaller stages, and have a dance music act headline on the mainstage.

Relix speculates that Daft Punk, The Prodigy or deadmau5 could be the dance-oriented headlining act.

Kot reported last month that Eminem, Muse and Foo Fighters would headline the 20th anniversary event, scheduled for Aug. 5-7 in Grant Park.

Other artists expected to play include Best Coast, Girl Talk, Crystal Castles and Lykke Li, according to Kot.
