Rotten Chicago 8/27

Like a sordid Hill Valley with no Marty McFly to protect it, Chicago's rife with crime. Rotten Chicago's our nightly glimpse at the city's festering underbelly. Read on, stay safe.

WRIGLEYVILLE
Police arrested 20+ people for trying to purchase drugs from undercover Cook County Sheriff’s officers, including a 41-year-old Oak Forest woman who asked the officer to give her a "good deal" on crack cocaine, since she was using it for medicinal purposes to help alleviate pain associated with her cancer. After buyers purchased drugs through the undercover officers' car window, sheriff’s police officers pulled their cars over around the block, outside of the view of any incoming buyers.

LAKEVIEW
Thugs robbed a 54-year-old man on a Lakeview street, just outside the Belmont "L" stop Thursday, forcing him against a wall and taking his wallet, which contained $400.

PORTAGE PARK
What apparently began as a gang fight inside a bar spilled into the street at 1:30 a.m., requiring almost 40 squad cars to contain the violence.

GARY, INDIANA
A man fatally shot his 19-month-old daughter while delivering her to a relative, then shot himself in the head. The girl was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital in Gary. The man is intensive care at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville.
