Romeoville Man Gets 108 Years for Sexually Assaulting Girl, Distributing Porn

Timothy J. Brandt, 38, was convicted in October 2014 of three counts of producing child pornography, the Will County State’s Attorney’s office said in a statement

A southwest suburban man was sentenced to 108 years in prison Tuesday for sexually assaulting a girl and filming her for eight years before his arrest in 2013.

Timothy J. Brandt, 38, was convicted in October 2014 of three counts of producing child pornography, the Will County State’s Attorney’s office said in a statement. He was also found guilty of two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of possessing child pornography, the state’s attorney’s office said.

“This case involved horrific abuse of a child, and this sentence ensures that the defendant will pay for his crimes for the rest of his life,” Attorney General Lisa Madigan said in the statement.

Brandt was arrested in May 2013 after authorities found he had been distributing porn from his home, the state’s attorney’s office said at the time. The arrest came after a two-month investigation as part of the state’s attorney’s High Technology Crimes Unit, created in 2012.

Brandt, of Romeoville, had sexually assaulted a now-12-year-old girl since she was 4, the state’s attorney’s office said.

Will County Judge David Carlson handed down the sentence Tuesday.

“This was an unspeakably horrific violation of the most basic tenets of human decency,” State’s Attorney James W. Glasgow said in the statement. “This sentence guarantees that Brandt will never again have an opportunity to abuse a child.”
