In each incident, three or four suspects blocked the road with a construction barrel, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives.

When drivers got out of their vehicles to move it, the suspects beat and robbed them, police said.

The first incident happened in the 300 block of West 51st Street about 6 p.m. Thursday, police said. The second happened at 6:15 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of West 51st Street.

The suspects are described as three to four black males between 17 and 23, about 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-3 and 180-220 pounds, police said.
