God may be hitting the road in Illinois. That is, if state lawmakers get their way.
The Illinois House voted 93-9 vote on Tuesday to approve the creation of specialty license plates that say "In God We Trust." The legislation, sponsored by Marion Democratic Rep. John Bradley will now heads to the Senate for further debate.
A similar measure went nowhere in the Senate last year.
Chicago Democrat Rep. Kevin McCarthy voted no on the measure because there are already a lot of specialty plates in Illinois and police have a hard time reading them. He added he believes they represent a hazard to law enforcers.
