Potentially Severe Storms Move Into Chicago Area

Storms could bring hail and damaging winds

The Chicago area could see thunderstorms on Tuesday, some of which could be severe.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for DeKalb County in Illinois until 8:15 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS warned that a severe thunderstorm was located near Hillcrest at around 7:24 a.m., moving southeast at 30 mph and bringing large hail, damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning.

Additional thunderstorms are possible in the late afternoon to early evening as a cold front moves through. Any storms that do develop could bring potential wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
