Riot Fest Makes Douglas Park Debut Amid Controversy

Chicago’s second largest music fest made its Douglas Park debut.

This year’s festival had a rocky start due to its move from Humbolt Park, as well as its spat with a local hospital.

Saint Anthony Hospital went to court to stop Riot Fest from happening over concerns that the event would bring loud noise and troublesome crowds.

However, the two were able to reach a solution over sound levels and parking concerns.

“Unfortunately, passions ran high on both sides and motivations were questioned. Both sides regret their aggressive statements,” a joint statement from the hospital and the festival read.

"Saint Anthony Hospital is working in cooperation with Riot Fest as the weekend gets underway," the hospital said in a statement Friday.
