Naperville Ribfest has seemingly found a new home beginning in 2020.
The annual summer festival will head to Romeoville, according to a statement from the village, which said the Exchange Club of Naperville - the group that organizes Ribfest - would begin discussions with the village on details of the event.
"We are honored that they have chosen Romeoville for this premier summer event,” Romeoville Mayor John Noak said.
“We need to make sure that, first and foremost, this is a good fit for our community and their organization," he added. "There are still topics to negotiate in order make sure that the concerns of the residents are addressed during this final process."
Ribfest organizers announced in December that the annual event would leave Naperville in 2020, as the city's park district planned to redevelop land at Knoch Park, where the festival has been held every Fourth of July weekend since 1988.
Romeoville officials highlighted that Ribfest moving to the village would not replace its annual Romeofest, which they plan to hold later in the season.
Ribfest will still take place from July 3 to 6 at Knoch Park this year, with headliners Billy Idol, Flo Rida and Brantley Gilbert scheduled to perform.
