It's hard for most people to imagine what it's like to be an American serviceman in Iraq. It's only slightly less hard to imagine how good it would be to be treated to a slice of pizza in that environment.
But neither was hard for Retired Air Force sergeant Mark Evans.
Evans sent thousands of pizzas to the troops in Iraq. Now he's bringing them to veterans at home.
Evans brought 500 pizzas to veterans hospitals in Maywood and Chicago on Monday to celebrate Veteran's Day. In June, the Elk Grove Village man arranged for 2,000 pizzas to be frozen, packed in dry ice and shipped to the Middle East for the Fourth of July.
