Residents Ask Hawks to Bring Stanley Cup to Tornado-Ravaged Town

Some residents in tornado-stricken Coal City have asked for the Chicago Blackhawks to bring the Stanley Cup to the recovering community.

On the side of a damaged house, where boards covered parts of the home that were destroyed in the storm, someone appeared to have spray painted “Lord Stanley please come 2 Coal City.”

The photo surfaced on Twitter this week and prompted several users to tweet at the Blackhawks asking for a Coal City visit from the Stanley Cup.

As of Friday morning, the Blackhawks had not responded to the tweets.

Coal City was hit by an EF-3 tornado on Monday. The community was also one of the communities hit hard by tornadoes in 2013.
