The NFL Draft just wrapped up a month ago, but the battle over who will host the next one in 2015 is just getting started.

When it was announced recently that Radio City Music Hall would not be hosting the event next year, the league decided it would solicit bids from various cities to host the draft.

One of the requirements the NFL has for a host city is that it could not only hold the draft in a big venue, but also have an adjacent venue nearby to host outdoor events.

With that in mind, there are reports coming out that the city of Chicago is the frontrunner to host the draft next year.

Here is what’s Gil Brandt had to say about the possibility of Chicago hosting:

“If I were an oddsmaker, I would say Chicago is where it’ll be next year. The draft is going to be a grand event, as we know it. It’s going to be not only the players being selected, but we’re going to have events outside of the draft area in which they will have a 40-yard dash race for people that want to run the 40 like players do. It’ll be just like the event they have at the Super Bowl, the NFL Experience.”

According to, Chicago is vying with New York and Los Angeles to host the event.

McCormick Place, Soldier Field and the Chicago Theatre have all been mentioned as potential host sites for the draft, with McCormick Place seeming to be the most likely venue for the league to choose.

The decision on where the draft will be held will likely come later this month.
