Renting? City Council's Got Your Back

City Adds To Tenant Protection

Chicago renters could soon have more protection in case their landlord falls into foreclosure.

If the tenants don't get the notice, they will be able to terminate their lease.

The city recently voted to give renters 90 days to find a new place if the building they are renting is foreclosed.

The City Council advanced a measure that would require landlords to notify tenants within seven days after getting a foreclosure notice.
