Record-Breaking Cold Possible Amid Start of Meteorological Spring

By Monday, the area could see record-breaking temperatures

Friday might mark the start of meteorological spring, but it certainly won’t feel like it.

The weekend begins with light snow or freezing drizzle possible overnight into Saturday morning mainly for areas north of Chicago.

Temperature highs Saturday will stay in the low-30s, dropping into the low-20s for Sunday.

By Monday, the area could see record-breaking cold.

Highs will likely stay in the single digits and low-teens with wind chill readings at 10 to 20 degrees below-zero. The record low high for the day is 17 degrees.

Tuesday looks to stay cold in the morning, though highs are expected rise into the mid- to upper-teens before reaching into the mid- to upper-20s for Wednesday.
