Rauner Speaks at Recently Robbed New Beginnings Church

Governor candidate Bruce Rauner and incumbent Pat Quinn both spoke at African-American churches on Sunday

Republican candidate for governor Bruce Rauner spoke Sunday at New Beginnings Church of Christ on Chicago's South Side a day after the church was robbed of $8,000.

The church's pastor, Corey Brooks, known as the "rooftop pastor," cited his public support for Rauner as the reason for the burglary.

Rauner told parishioners that he was there "to go to work for you." The wealthy businessman quoted the Bible, saying "to whom much has been given, much has been expected."

Meanwhile incumbent Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn spoke at Community Covenant Church in suburban Calumet Park.

Quinn continued to call for an increase in the minimum wage. He said no one who works 40 hours a week should have to live in poverty.
