Social Media Roasts Rauner's Chocolate Milk Stunt

As many on Twitter noted, no, this was not The Onion.

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner took part in a rather awkward demonstration Wednesday, drinking chocolate milk for “diversity” in a stunt that made headlines and set social media ablaze.

Rauner was at a Black History Month event in Chicago to honor 12 recipients of the 2018 Governor’s Difference Makers Awards, which spotlight those making a difference in their communities and across the state. The recipients included the CEO of mSEED group, the president of GMA Construction Group and the president of Urban Juncture, Inc., among others.

During the event, the host, Hyatt Hotels executive Tyronne Stoudemire, poured a glass of milk to represent corporate structure.

Stoudemire then added chocolate syrup to represent diversity – asking Rauner to stir the glass for “inclusion.”

The governor then took a sip, declaring it “really, really good” with a toast to “Diversity!”

Naturally, Twitter had a field day with the demonstration – and even the dictionary got in on the fun. [[474966113, C]]
