Rapper King Louie Asks For Prayers on Social Media

King Louie took to social media to ask fans for prayers after the Chicago rapper was shot Wednesday afternoon on the Southwest Side. 

“MERRY XMAS 2 ALL,” he wrote in an Instagram post while wearing a Santa hat in a hospital bed. “ALL I WANT 4 XMAS IS 4 EVERYBODY 2 KEEP ME N THEIR PRAYERS."

The rapper's management issued a statement Thursday after the Chicago rapper was shot Wednesday afternoon on the Southwest Side. 

"King Louie and his family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this unfortunate time," his management said in an emailed statement to NBC Chicago. "He wants his fans, friends and family to know that he is alive and recovering and is thankful for the support."

"King Louie will be spending the holiday with his loved ones and continue to be a voice for the city for those who have experienced the same violence he has encountered," the statement continued. "To everyone who reached out with concern, it will not go unnoticed and is much appreciated, however at this time he is focused on getting well and being healthy."

His management added that "he is up and talking, laughing and enjoying life."

Fellow rappers have sent their condolences on social media.

"Whoa...I didn't know @KingL got shot, no disrespect, i just saw where he tweeted me and was showing love," Pusha T wrote.

In addition to King Louie, two people died and five others were injured in Chicago shootings

Police are currently investigating the shooting.
