An 8-year-old girl who reportedly vanished on Monday was never missing, police said Tuesday.
Authorities late Monday issued an alert indicating that Ranariah Harris was last seen at about 7:30 a.m. at George Leland Elementary, located at 512 S. Lavergne Ave.
It turns out Harris' mother signed her out of school and left her in the care of her cousin. That cousin later became upset when the mother came back to pick up Harris, police clarified.
Authorities said it was the cousin who reported Harris missing.
Harris has been with her mother, her legal guardian, during the entire time she was "missing" and was never in any danger, police said.
