Rainy Game Day Ahead

No joke, the Cubs' April 1 home opener could get drenched

Grab a poncho, Cubs fans. Friday's home opener looks to be a soggy one.

Rain and possible thunderstorms are on tap for the start of Chicago baseball season. The National Weather Service predicts a 60 percent chance of rain and some wind between 1 and 4 p.m. (The Cubs play the Pirates at 1:20 p.m.)

Only a slight chance of rain is predicted before 1 p.m., but don't let that prevent you from toting a warm coat and an umbrella this afternoon.

The rain continues Friday evening, mostly before 7 p.m., and then turns cloudy.

Saturday could see a high of 50 degrees and a reprieve from rain before thunderstorms move through the area on Sunday.

Rain stays on the radar for Monday and Tuesday as well. But look on the bright side, baseball fans. Maybe spring showers will bring Chicago some May winners.
