After pop-up showers rained down on parts of the Chicago area Monday night, models show spotty rain showers could move back into the forecast Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The showers also could accompany a swift temperature shift, forcing temps down almost 20 degrees within a short period of time.
While it does not appear that the wet weather will bring severe conditions, the potential for heavy rainfall and even hail remains.
The showers and storms are expected to pop up in parts of the Chicago area beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through the evening.
Some areas could see up to a half-inch of rainfall by the overnight hours, when the rain should begin to taper.
Conditions look to improve as the week continues.

Cooler temperatures are expected Wednesday, with a high of 75 degrees forecast. Rainy weather looks to stay south of Chicago Wednesday, but could hit parts of Northwest Indiana.
Thursday and Friday continue to improve, with temperatures reaching near 80 degrees and dry conditions forecast.
The Chicago area was graced with summer-like temperatures and dry weather throughout Memorial Day weekend. Rain showers moved in Monday evening as temperatures remained in the 80s.
