Rahm Suggests Jesse Jackson Jr. Address Constituents

Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Monday joined the chorus of politicians suggesting Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. touch base with the people who re-elected him.

"With the election over, there are big issues coming up in the lame duck session, " Emanuel said at an unrelated event. "I think Congressman Jackson, it's incumbent upon him to have a conversation with his constituents about his intentions."

"My thoughts and prayers, first and foremost, are with the family," he said.

It was reported last week -- the day after Jackson was re-elected, to be exact -- that the congressman may be working on a plea deal with federal authorities who are looking into his alleged misuse of campaign funds.

Jackson already is being investigated by an ongoing U.S. House Ethics Committee investigation into his alleged attempts at being appointed to now-President Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat.

Jackson went on medical leave this summer and continues to be treated for bi-polar disorder at the Mayo Clinic. He hasn't publicly been seen since late June.
