Snagging a ticket to a Bears game could get a little easier in the future.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Park District and Mayor Rahm Emanuel are exploring ways to expand Soldier Field by 5,000 seats.
Emanuel told the newspaper that the sold-out Stadium Series Blackhawks game and upcoming soccer games prove that there's room to do more in with the stadium that would be "self-financing and self-sustaining.”
A specific plan for the expansion or financing isn't in place, but early plans for expansion have included adding the seats to the top ring of the stadium.
Emanuel has spoken to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the past about the possibility of Chicago hosting a Super Bowl, which would need a minimum of 70,000 seats.
Soldier Field currently has a capacity of 61,500 for football and 63,500 for other events.
