Mayor Emanuel Makes Final Four Food Wager

After winning doughnuts and pizza, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is trying to win even more food during this weekend’s Final Four.

According to a press release, Emanuel is wagering sandwiches from Manny’s Deli in a bet with Ann Arbor, MI Mayor Christopher Taylor. The bet will center on the Final Four contest between Loyola and Michigan, which will take place Saturday evening.

If the Ramblers win, Emanuel and his staff will win Georgia Reuben sandwiches from Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor, a favorite of Mayor Taylor. If the Wolverines are triumphant in the game, then Emanuel will send corned beef and pastrami sandwiches from Manny’s to the Michigan city.

“The Ramblers have defied the odds and proven themselves at every step on the road to the Final Four,” Emanuel said. “We are confident we will be celebrating their trip to the NCAA Finals with deli food from Zingerman’s, but in the unlikely event the Wolverines advance we are prepared to send some legendary Manny’s corned beef to Ann Arbor.”

During the Sweet 16, Emanuel and his staff won 16 dozen doughnuts thanks to Loyola’s win over Nevada, and two days later won pizza from an Overland Park eatery following the Ramblers’ triumph over Kansas State in the Elite Eight.
