Teen Fired 31 Shots at School Building: Police

A 15-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly firing 31 shots near a Pullman neighborhood elementary school on Wednesday, police said.

The teen was arrested near West 118th and South La Salle streets at about 2:30 p.m. after officers found him with a gun near the Songhai Learning Institute, in the 11700 block of South Perry Avenue, police said.

Thirty-one spent shells were found near the school, and while the shooting happened while students were still inside, no one was hit by any of the bullets, authorities said.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating and charges were pending against the teen.
