Teachers in a suburban Chicago school district have voted to ratify a tentative agreement on a new contract, ending a strike that had closed down schools.
A statement posted Sunday afternoon on the union's website says Prospect Heights School District 23 will resume classes Monday.
The district's board of education plans to meet Tuesday evening to vote on the contract. The Prospect Heights Education Association says details of the agreement will be released jointly by both sides if the school board approves the deal.
The strike closed schools for seven days during the past two weeks.
The district has three elementary schools and one middle school. It covers parts of Prospect Heights, Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect and Wheeling.
